WHIPPIN IT UP IN THE CLOUD

This week, we're taking a look at the world of cloud kitchens - and trust us, it's not just for professional chefs.

If you love to cook and are looking for a way to make some extra cash on the side, then a cloud kitchen might just be the perfect gig for you.

Here's how it works: you cook from the comfort of your own home and use delivery services like DoorDash or Uber Eats to get your food to customers.

It's a great way to flex your culinary skills and bring in some extra income without having to invest in a brick-and-mortar restaurant that costs millions.

Even better, this industry is set to grow by almost 3% every year reaching $373 billion compared to its size today of approximately $65 billion - that's over 5x in 8 years!

Ready to get started? Here's your step-by-step guide to setting up your very own cloud kitchen from Chef FQ:

1. Build your menu

The first thing you want to do is decide what type of food you want to make and sell.

Are you a master of Italian cuisine? Do you have a killer quesadilla recipe? Whatever it is, make sure it's something that you're passionate about and that you can consistently produce at a high quality.

2. Register and pass the requirements

Next, you'll need to register as a business and get your kitchen certified by your local health department.

Here’s a great article to make sure you meet the requirements around things like food hygiene and ServSafe Food Handler certifications.

It is legal to run a cloud kitchen out of your house but you need to ensure you meet the requirements around food safety with your local governments. It's as easy as calling them up and asking.

If you find out you're not allowed to sell food out of your own kitchen based on your states laws, you can still make this work - you just have to give the kitchen that cooks your meals a percentage of sales.

This is exactly what Mr. Beast does with his Mr. Beast Burger cloud kitchen. You know, the YouTuber with 118M subscribers on his main channel alone.

3. Market your menu

Once your kitchen is certified, it's time to start promoting your brand.

This is going to be the hardest part of starting this business. How the heck are you going to get people in the know about your tasty menu?

Here's a sneaky pro tip I think could work: Order a few DoorDash and Uber Eats meals and have flyers of your new cloud kitchen handy. Every time you get a new driver, offer to pay them $20 to hand out your flyers with every order as they're driving around all day.

If they agree, you're targeting customers who frequent delivery and are already on these apps - exactly the clientele you want!

4. Whip it up!

Now that you're set-up, when an order comes in, it's time to whip it up like Ezekiel Elliot after scoring a touchdown.

Carefully prepare the food using the highest-quality ingredients you can source. Pack it up securely and hand it off to the delivery drivers.

PRO TIP πŸ‘€

  • Spend time creating nice packaging - having a great logo and quality Tupperware goes a long way. It makes your brand comes across as high-quality and well-established
