How to capitalize off the hair transplant hype
here's a business no one has started yet
GM. This is Work "After" Work, spilling the tea on trends before they even brew. ☕️
It’s Taco Tuesday, let’s dig in:
👨🦲 Hair transplants going mainstream
😂 Meme of the day
Before the heat: If you're new here... Last week, we shared another 7-question quiz to test your knowledge about "money". The first one to get all correct won $10! We had over 55 responses but only 1 person was the first to get all correct!
*The winner has elected to stay private, so enjoy this image of what could be you next week!
*We also had a little typo in our answers last week. Big thanks to Ethan for pointing it out!
We're going to drop another "money" quiz this Thursday... 👀 So be on the lookout to win $10 💰️
Do you have money sitting in your bank account?
If so, you’re losing money by keeping it in there… You see, your bank doesn’t pay you anything for keeping your money with them. That’s why I save/keep my money with Public who pays 5.1% on your money for doing absolutely nothing!
That's 75x the national average 🤑
Takes less than 3 minutes to set up
No minimum amount
You can withdraw your money whenever you want with no fees!
To put into reference if you had $10,000 you could earn $510/yr for doing absolutely nothing!
AND if you sign up using this link and deposit just $1 and send me a screenshot I’ll send you $20 on me :) (just reply to this email!)
HAIR TRANSPLANTS GOING MAINSTREAM
Is it just me, or is everyone talking about hair transplants these days? I can’t even scroll through TikTok without bumping into a #hairtransplant video, which has racked up 4.2 billion views.
It's crazy to think that this whole thing started back in the 1930s, and now it's a $5 billion industry expected to reach $37.5 billion in the next ten years - a 7.5x 😮
Over the past few decades hair transplant surgeries have greatly evolved. No more obvious (and terrible) hair plugs of the 70s and 80s. Just look at the difference.
So it makes sense that the 80 million people affected by hair loss are opting to undergo surgery that fixes this. Who wouldn’t want to look 10 years younger?
But there’s one big problem. It’s extremely expensive… in the US.
A hair transplant surgery in the US costs $15,959. Conversely, in Turkey, where you can get the same outcome costs $2,570 - a $13,389 savings.
This is why the Google search interest for “Hair Transplant Turkey” has been on the rise these past 5 years 👀
But there’s a catch. It’s obvious - the overseas surgeries are cheaper but there’s one thing holding people back… it’s overseas. They don't know anything about these countries. The language, how the payment works, where to stay, if the doctors are actually legit, etc.
Even with these complications a lot still “figure it out” and get their hair transplants done overseas because it’s significantly cheaper.
So here's a business idea no one is doing that takes advantage of this massive trend.
The idea: being a middleman or agency for hair transplant patients.
What would you do?
Connect people here in the States with trusted doctors overseas and get paid for it.
There are two ways you’ll make money:
A finder’s fee from the clinic for providing a client. Maybe $100 - $200 per client
Convenience packages to remove all guesswork. You provide the doctor, airfare, and hotel.
There’s clearly demand in this space. Here’s how I’d capture it:
#1 Get the details
Solely work with doctors in Turkey, as they have the best reputation for hair transplant surgeries and did over 1 million procedures in 2021.
Hit up all the top-notch facilities. Hermest Hair Clinic, Nimclinic, and the like to gather information about questions clients may ask.
Get them interested. Say you've got a massive list of folks eager for hair transplant surgeries but have a lot of unknowns they need answered.
This is where you ask about the nitty-gritty: how their process works, what the procedure entails, pre-op procedures needed, etc.
Ask every question you can think of so you know exactly what their policies are and how they work. If you’re having trouble finding what customers care about, look at Reddit.
Here are a few more questions you can ask:
What hair transplant techniques do you specialize in? FUE, FUT, or others?
What's your success rate for hair transplants?
What does the aftercare involve? Are there specific products or medications I'll need?
All of this info will help you create a detailed FAQ page on your website and boost your SEO ranking.
#2 Build your service and website
Remember, people will go to Turkey to get their hair transplant procedure. You just need to solve the unknowns of this venture.
The biggest question is “Who’s the best doctor?”. To answer this research people’s reviews - the results speak for themselves.
After that important step comes the convenience packages you offer. If it were me, I'd have multiple different packages customers can choose from:
Package A - Book an appointment on their behalf but they have to deal with flights and hotels
Package B - Book an appointment for them, and you suggest which flights and hotels to stay at
Package C - Book their appointment, the flights, and hotels for them to stay at (all-inclusive package)
Key to keep in mind 🔑
You can charge a decent amount for this service. Why? Because the customer is already going to be saving a ton not doing the procedure in the U.S. If they spend an extra $1,000 to have the convenience of an all-inclusive package, in their mind they’re still saving over $10,000 and snagged an amazing deal.
You can think of this as being a travel agent who books vacations but instead, you're doing it for hair transplants.
#3 Build your ads and get customers
Now that you’ve got your website setup it’s time to get people on it.
The best way to do this is social media ads. I’d suggest aiming your efforts towards Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Target users interested in “hair care” or “self care”. There is no “hair transplant” interest you can target on Facebook or Instagram unfortunately. Break out these interests into two demos:
Men ages 25+
Women ages 40+
These should both be separate ads. I’m thinking one of a younger guy that was balding and showing the before and after of his hair transplant. And the same with for a woman.
The ad should talk about the ease of booking through your agency and the peace of mind it provides.
If the ad is a hit, it starts your flywheel!
A customer clicks the ad and goes to your website. Since you have great copywriting they book an appointment or buy an all-inclusive package. You then provide the service. Meaning, book the appointment and airfare and hotels if applicable.
Do a great job with this and the business will build itself. People will talk about your agency on subreddits and refer their friends.
And that’s all I had for you folks. If you have any further questions about the business let me know!
