💸 Make $100 Every Day Testing Websites

your step-by-step guide to getting started

GM. This is Work "After" Work, the side hustle newsletter that bundles up all the goodies and gives them away for free.

Just like Santa Claus, but I can't see if you've been naughty or nice 😏

It’s Friday, let’s boogie:

  • 📲 User Testing

  • 😂 Meme of the day

BE A KEY PLAYER

What’s the worst thing that could happen to a company? Well, besides bankruptcy?

I think it’s spending millions of dollars to build an app and when it goes to market... nobody uses it.

And the silly thing is, this could have all been avoided by doing one simple thing: user testing.

Yep, just how it sounds. Companies pay random people who have never seen their app before to test it and give live feedback.

This way if something about it isn’t working how they intended, they can go back to the drawing board, instead of going to market and losing those customers forever.

This is exactly why user testing is so valuable to companies and the best part? They’ll pay you a pretty penny to do it.

Right now there are over 1.2 million people enjoying this side hustle making $15-$30 per hour and it's as easy as browsing while thinking out loud.

HOW TO GET STARTED USER TESTING

1. Enroll in multiple platforms

The most popular site for user testing is usertesting.com. So original I know. Kinda like eggcartons.com... don't click it, trust me it's what you think.

UserTesting pays pretty well at $10 for a review lasting 20 minutes and you can even get $10 for 5-10 minute tasks if you're lucky.

Pro Tip: go for the 30, 60, 90 minute ones - those pay $30 to $90 a session.

What's nice about UserTesting is you can do them on your phone with their app and since they're the biggest, you can get the most amount of tests, which means more money.

But, while UserTesting is the biggest, they're not the only ones. I'd recommend enrolling in multiple platforms to get the most amount of tasks possible.

Some Great Alternatives:

  • Play Test Cloud - perfect if you're a gamer, it's testing mobile games

  • TryMyUI - similar to UserTesting (mostly websites)

2. Take a Qualification Test

Each website follows a similar format. They'll give you a qualification test, like a test drive.

They want to check if you have the necessary gear:

  • computer

  • stable connection

  • webcam

  • microphone

  • PayPal account

These tests are simple. It's a video that gives you prompts like “find the FAQ page” or “find and click on the profile of one of our team members” etc.

It's more of a "Have you used the internet before?" and for everyone reading this, it'll be a breeze.

Pro tip for these tests: don't stay silent. This is the single worst thing you can do.

Narrate your thoughts out loud as you perform your actions so the person reviewing the video can understand your thought process.

At the end you'll say what you liked and disliked about the user interface and in a couple days, since you're reading this, get approved!

Then you're ready to fly 🕊

3. Test Away!

Now it’s time to take tests and get paid.

You’ll see all the tests available and you choose which ones you want to take.

A 5 minute one on the way to work? Sure. A 30 minute one at night. You betcha.

As you complete more and more, you’ll get rated for your tests. A 5 star is the best and the higher your rating, the more tests you’ll get.

It's like Uber but I've never been to "oovoo javer". If you know you know 😂

TIP FROM YA BOY

  • Don't use any of your real information when testing - a lot of times tests will have you go through the buying process on a website and this usually involves making an account. NEVER use your own info - Jiminy Cricket is always a good alias 😆

MEME OF THE DAY

Imagine what you’d see if this were real 😂😂

That's a wrap. Enjoy the weekend :)
