IT'S TIME TO DEVELOP YOUR EYE FOR DESIGN

As a Youtuber, I know how important a thumbnail is. They’re the kind of thing that takes videos from 500k views to 14 million.

After all, it doesn’t matter how hard you worked on the content if nobody clicks on it. Mr. Beast said it best "You can't get 10 million views unless 10 million people click on the video."

And this is why creators pay pros to make thumbnails for them.

How much you ask? Sometimes as little as 30 - 40 bucks.. or as much as $500 for a single thumbnail... and I've seen this first hand.

That means as a thumbnail designer you can make hundreds of dollars every week if not thousands by securing just one creator.

It will take some learning and practice but if you regularly watch YouTube and have an eye for what looks good - this side hustle could be for you.

HERE'S THE 2 STEPS TO BECOMING A SUCCESSFUL THUMBNAIL DESIGNER

1. Learn the craft

Making a great thumbnail takes practice. There’s a reason they get paid so well.

If you’re seriously interested in diving in I’d watch YouTube tutorials on 2x speed about how to create thumbnails with Canva or Adobe Photoshop.

Canva has a free version, is more user-friendly, and will get your design brain turning. Adobe Photoshop will most likely be the next step after Canva just because of its enhanced capabilities.

Here’s a YouTube tutorial that lays out how to create a thumbnail people want to click on.

2. Secure clients

It only takes one creator to make hundreds of dollars a week - here's how to do it.

For practice, make your favorite YouTuber's thumbnails even better. Make them pop more, make them have more contrasting colors, include different text.. anything that will lead to more clicks.

Now take those beautiful designs and send them to the creator! You can find almost any YouTuber’s business email in their About page on YouTube.

Say: 

Hey [Faares], I’ve been watching you for a while and love your content about money and it’s even helped me earn money myself. I’ve gone ahead and created two thumbnails that I think will get more views for your video “How I Bought My First Rental Property at 22”.

If the creator likes your designs, you’ll get a response.

YouTube now has live analytics so YouTubers can switch their thumbnails to yours and test it in real-time to see if it's performing better.

If your thumbnails perform well, you can charge more. Even an extra $50 per thumbnail for YouTubers is nothing if it gets them thousands of more views.

Perfect your craft and you’ll be able to charge some pretty steep numbers for your designs!

And that’s it! This side hustle is only two steps: get good and reach out to creators with your designs.
