THE DIGITAL DASH

Just like Future, we’re going to do the digital dash and sell digital downloads on Etsy 😎

Testimonial: One of my friends who's a nurse does this and she literally makes an extra $200/mo by doing nothing.

What she did was create a nursing report sheet that has nice designs and organizes her patients with the different medications each one needs.

I didn’t know this but every nurse needs a report sheet and I guess the ones that management gives out are really bad so there’s actually a decent demand for little niches like this.

Plus, the best part about selling printables on Etsy is that it’s super passive and requires very little money. You do the work upfront creating your download and nothing after that. All passive income - and you know how much I love passive income 😏

You can really make Etsy as serious as you want it to be. There’s people, like my friend, who make a few hundred dollars a month but there’s also people out there making six figures to millions on Etsy selling printables and using this as their main business so it really is what you make of it.

This is why today’s side hustle is how you can sell to the 96 million buyers Etsy has to offer.

HOW TO GET STARTED

1. Create your digital download

Step #1 is figuring out what you want to sell.

Are you witty and can come up with funny birthday or congratulations cards? Are you a goated photographer with banger photos? Maybe you create amazing planners or have a killer resume.

These are all things that sell like hotcakes on Etsy.

And if you’re not artistic don’t worry - there’s websites like Canva that make it easy for you to create amazing patterns and designs for things like cards or wall art.

2. Construct your account

Signing up with Etsy is easy - it's free. The real magic comes when you create a bio for people to connect with and relate to.

For example, my nurse friend included what she does, how she thinks nursing is tough (I'm sure everyone can relate to that), and how creating things (like her planner) helps her not only do her job better but make it more enjoyable too.

3. Make pricing your print easy

Pricing can be tricky. What the heck do you even charge for your awesome photo? After all - there is only one of them.

What you can do is scout what other sellers in your market are charging and base it off them to be competitive.

You can also start to think about how much you would charge for the item if you were printing it, packaging it and mailing it. Consider how much time you put into each design and what's a reasonable profit. Then, add on expenses like Etsy fees to settle on a final price.

4. List that bad boy

Next, is the fun part. You get to see if all of your hard work will pay off. Will people actually buy your photo or birthday card?

There's only one way to find out - list that bad boy.

Here's a few tips to sell more:

  • Post photos from every angle (you should fill up all 10 slots)

  • Show buyers what it can look like (my friend showed her report sheet on a clipboard in the hospital). If it's wall art show it in a nice frame by a vibrant succulent

  • Post a video with it. If you're a camera person this will help people connect with you and you can walk them through how you made it

MUST KNOWS

  • Etsy takes a 6.5% cut of every sale and charges .20 cents for each listing - the price of doing business

  • You can buy ads on Etsy called "Etsy Ads" to rank higher for search results - a nice feature if you have a solid print and want to push sales

PS: I’m thinking about running an Etsy store and sharing all my wins and mistakes to give you guys a more in-depth breakdown of what it takes to succeed. If that’s something you’d be interested in let me know! 🙂
