I met two women making $3,000 a day
here's what they were doing and how you can too

WELCOME TO GRAMMA NANA’S
Last week I went to a hot air balloon fest and it was epic!
I saw a 900lb dragon 👀
And besides the hot air balloons being awesome.. since I was at a fest you know I had to get some vendor food. So, I went searching and quickly noticed one thing - the vendors that sold sweet treats and desserts were swamped compared to all the others.
One van caught my eye. It was called Gramma Nana’s. Two women ran it… and I think they’re making a killing. Like $3,000 in one night good (I’ll break this down for you later)
They were selling cookies, ice cream sandwiches, edible cookie dough, and ice cream floats! 😋
Mostly everything was pre-made so they were quick with customers and they cooked their own cookie flavors for the ice cream sandwiches (I think), which made them unique.
This reminded me how much money vendors can make in one night.
Here’s the breakdown of how I think they’re making $3,000 in one day.
If we say the average price is $6.50 per item and they were serving 50-60 guests per hour (which they easily were) that’s $325 - $390 an hour.
Then multiply that by the number of hours they were open for, I’m assuming 7-8 and that’s right around $3,000.
Now this doesn’t mean there aren’t cons. I’ve got 3:
you have to make the desserts and run the food truck, or pay someone to do it
you have to pay a fee for entering festivals
you have to deal with hangry people
If those didn’t scare you away, then this business might be for you.
Here’s how I would start it:
1. Decide what you’re going to sell
I would recommend selling desserts for a few reasons:
Most of it can be pre-made at home - this means faster service and less stress on your end
People usually eat sweet treats when they’re at fests
Most things you don’t use you can store (like ice cream)
No need for a complex food truck with a kitchen. All you need is a freezer and fridge (this is what they had)
2. Do some branding
What’s nice about food trucks is you don’t need to spend money on social media ads to make money. As long as you have a good looking truck people will want to come try your food!
This step is figuring out what your brand will be called and coming up with designs that entice customers.
3. Do the boring work
By boring, I mean all the business documentation that needs to be completed to operate legally.
The 3 main things you’ll need are:
Business license
Insurance
Health inspection or certification
Depending on the state or city you operate in they may require a city permit.
For insurance, you’ll find plenty of options by searching for “commercial general liability insurance”. It’s usually around $20/mo.
4. Get your supplies
If I were a betting man, I’d bet Gramma Nana’s make their own cookies and then buy the vanilla ice cream from the store. Then make the ice cream sandwiches the day before and put them in the freezer.
These things were selling like hotcakes. They were literally making $7 about every 30 seconds… I wish I took a video.
5. Find festivals
Search for festivals in your city. For example, I’m in the Chicago area and when I search for festivals I see the Sangria Festival is going on August 19th & 20th.
On their contact page, there is a ‘Food Booth Application”. That’s how most of these sites work.
From here, take festivals you’re available for and when you have a free weekend go make some money!
This can start as just festivals but can turn into neighborhood and personal parties as well. You never know until you start 💪
