It's Friday, let's boogie:

  • 🧽 Deep cleaning restaurant floors

  • 😂 Meme of the day

Today we’ve got a side hustle that makes this guy on Reddit $1,000 per night.

What is it?Deep cleaning restaurant floors.

It’s kinda grimey but you can sure make a lot of money from it.

And if you have time on the weekends and are somewhat of a night owl, this could be a really great side hustle for you because:

#1 A lot of restaurants will only need a deep clean every month or two depending on how busy they are (schedule a weekend clean)

#2 You'll most likely be working at night after hours

Floor cleaning will always be in demand as long as restaurants are open and you can charge $85/hr all the way up to $150/hr!

Here are two restaurant cleaning services in the Chicagoland area that are both charging $150 an hour on Thumbtack:

Why can you charge so much?Because studies show 90% of customers consider cleanliness to be the most important factor of a restaurant. That means a dirty restaurant = no money. Owners can't have this.

If you’ve ever walked into a restaurant and your shoes were sticking to the ground, that's because of all the dirt and grease build up over time. This is what you'll be getting rid of.

There’s one other thing to mention - this side hustle isn't easy.

You’ll be working through the night with strong chemicals that can burn you. So be careful and wear gloves!

But this also means you’re going to have a lot less competition. So, if you’re willing to put in the work, you can make some pretty serious money for just 2 nights.

How much you ask? We’re talking $1,000 - $2,000 every weekend (Friday and Saturday). Sundays are rest days to gear up for work on Monday… or turn this into your full-time gig when you have multiple clients 😏

Let’s jump into how you can start making $1,000 a night:

1. Get customers

It goes without saying, you’ll need to secure clients.

You can do this by posting FB ads for your area or by reaching out to restaurant owners via email.

And if you visit a restaurant that has greasy and dirty floors, it's not a bad idea to ask that owner in person as well.

They're most likely ask what a deep clean entails and you'll tell them you:

  • degrease the floors with a degreaser

  • use a buffer machine to get all the grease and dirt out of the pores

  • and wet vacuum it up to reveal a like-new concrete floor

Then you'll probably get hit with "And how much for the whole job?"

For this question it's easy. Ask how much square footage needs to be cleaned and multiply it by $.60 - there's your answer.

Don't tell them this is how you calculated it just give them the number. And make sure it comes out to $100 an hour give or take.

If the restaurant has 1,000 sq ft, that’s $600 for just one cleaning!

These jobs are expensive but restaurant owners need clean restaurants for repeat business and to meet safety standards. Don’t undercut yourself.

Focus on dominating your local area and keep business close - this will make it easy for you to do more jobs and help with referrals amongst other owners.

2. Get your chemicals and machines

John Stevens, the Redditor who has his own one-person cleaning company uses a few things.

One is a degreaser, to get all the grease out of the floor's pores.

He uses Sunburst degreaser - you can find it on Amazon and costs $22 a gallon. You'll also need a mop bucket - these are about $35.

Now onto the machines. This job requires two big boys.

One will be a floor buffer to scrub, clean, and take out the grease. These will cost $300 - $600.

The other is a wet vacuum cleaner.

One that is specifically designed to pick up liquids at almost the pace you can walk. Like this one, it holds 24 gallons and is the same one our Reddit friend uses.

You can also buy a Shop-Vac, which will be much cheaper at $50-$100 but if you're going to be serious about this, he recommends using a commercial-grade vacuum as it will save you hours of cleaning.

So what's our total investment?About $900. This side hustle isn’t cheap. In fact, it's one of the most expensive side hustles I've written about but it's also one of the most you can make per job.

If you’re charging $100/hour and it takes you 6 hours to clean one restaurant, you’ll make $600. If you clean 4 restaurants a month (only working half the weekends out of the month) you'll take home around $2,400.

Meaning you'll profit $1,500 in the first month. Not too shabby!

If you'd like to learn about his cleaning process and some pro tips here's a YouTube video of him running through it.

3. Document your journey

If you’re new here, I'll let you in on a little secret.

There are hustlers out there doing "dirty" side hustles (power washing, mowing, deep cleaning) and are making more off posting their content online than the actual service.

How is this possible?Because people like to watch satisfying content. #deepcleaning has 1.1 billion views on TikTok - take advantage of this.

All you need is a GoPro (or your phone) and a tripod.

Start on making videos on TikTok (where it's easier to grow) and slowly transition followers to your YouTube channel to monetize.

SB Mowing, a YouTuber that strictly records mowing lawns, has 514k subscribers and makes $343k a year!

All he does is record his mowings and shows the before and after results with some voiceover in post-edit.

Do the same for deep cleaning. Talk about how much money you made, you’re journey, and show your cleaning process. People love to see transformations!
