Spotify's new AI feature is game changing
how to profit from it

GM. This is Work "After" Work, the newsletter that knows building a business is hard - it's like eating with chopsticks.
That's why we give you the helpers.

Here's how we're starting the week:

SPOTIFY COMING IN HOT
If youāre a Spotify user, you may have noticed they recently came out with a new AI-driven scroll feature.
Essentially how it works is you tap the āMusicā or āPlaylistā button on the homepage and a vertical screen pops up previewing the best part of a song or the most interesting parts of a podcast, to help users discover new content.

Itās kind of like a trailer for a movie. Itās meant to get you interested and show you the best parts (or at least thatās what creators should be doing).

Why is this feature such a big deal for Spotify?History has shown when a company does this, it pays off big. Two easy examples:
YouTube Shorts - 536M videos in 2 years
Instagram Reels - 434M posts in 2 years
I believe Spotify is set to experience a similar explosion.
Remember when YouTube unveiled Shorts? The first people to start making them got millions of views because YouTube was pushing them extremely hard to keep up with TikTok. Spotify will do the same.
There are currently 489M users on Spotify, and comparatively, thatās a lot lower than other social media platforms.

Well duh Faares, ābecause itās not oneā. Youāre right, until now.
This new AI-driven scroll is going to be a content juggernaut taking a lot of attention from other apps. Thereās going to be a video for every song and every podcast clip you see, Spotify will no longer be an app just for listening.
And with the platform expecting to reach 1 billion users by 2030 - it's halfway there.
Here's 3 business ideas to ride the massive Spotify wave thatās coming:
#1 If youāve ever wanted to pursue a career in music or content, nowās the time
This is exactly like being early to YouTube back in the day or TikTok just three years ago. Iām sure none of those huge creators we know today thought theyād get that big. Charlie DāAmelio (150M), Khaby Lame (155M), Addison Rae (89M).
Heck, I never thought Iād have 2 million followers.
All these influencers lived ordinary lives. They went to school and did their homework. Now they all have multi-million dollar brands and licensing deals.
Being first to something is a huge advantage and while you most definitely canāt be first to music, you can be first to this huge AI push by Spotify.
And with them giving creators 70% of all revenue, this could be substantial.
But if youāre just an avid listener like me, Iāve got two other business ideas for ya!
#2 Short-form clips for creators
If I were a betting man, Iād bet this AI-driven feed gets really big. Why? Because itās going to know you better than you know yourself.
Just as TikTok curates your feed based on your interests, Spotify will do the same. It already knows everything you listen to and the artists you enjoy.
I could see people scrolling on this for hours. Itās your favorite songs with your favorite artists dancing along, why wouldnāt you?
With this rush, creators will be scrambling to create short videos on every song or podcast clip they have on Spotify. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. If you donāt have a video playing along with your song itās going to look off because everyone else will have one.
Viewers will expect a video and when an artist doesnāt have one, theyāll skip it. That means you're looking at a TAM (total addressable market) of the entire Spotify ecosystem (11M creators).
Help artists create short-form videos and sell your business to Morning Brew in just one year. Exactly like Our Future did with short-form TikTok and Instagram content.
#3 Teaching creators
Many up-and-coming creators will be good at one thing: music.
I mean, after all, they're musicians, not content creators. They wonāt know all the ins and outs of the platform and how to market themselves properly (SEO (search engine optimization), short video clips, tiktoks to boost audience, etc.)
Teach these things to creators by creating a podcast, newsletter, or online course. Trust me, itās something every small creator deals with in the beginning.
Donāt have any idea where to start?Reverse engineer Connor Priceās growth - he started making TikTok music videos and now has 8M monthly listeners on Spotify.

TECHY TECH š¤
A few days ago OpenAI announced "Plugins" for ChatGPT, which allows the AI to connect to the internet and many other platforms, like Uber or DoorDash.
While it's not open to the masses yet, pretty soon you'll be able to research the best vacation to have in California. Have ChatGPT make you an itinerary, book your flights, and make reservations for everything that's on the list.
Pretty cool!
Here's a picture of ChatGPT browsing the web. It reads each article until it finds the answer then spits it out for you - no digging on your end š
